My name is Saheed Abiodun, and I live in Canada with my wife and children. I am creating this fundraiser because our family has reached a difficult financial point despite both my wife and me continuing to work and pursue our education.
We are doing everything possible to meet our responsibilities, raise our children, maintain our home and build a more stable future. However, our mortgage, condominium fees, insurance, electricity, transportation, groceries, education expenses and other essential household costs have placed significant pressure on our income.
I also help support my elderly parents and seven siblings in Nigeria. Unexpected family responsibilities and necessary travel expenses added further pressure and, over time, I had to rely on credit cards, lines of credit and installment financing.
Our family home currently has approximately $275,563 CAD remaining on the mortgage, and we also have approximately $21,000 CAD in credit cards, lines of credit and other financial obligations.
Although we continue making payments, interest charges make it difficult to reduce these balances. A significant portion of what we pay each month goes toward interest rather than actually reducing the debt.
I am initially seeking to raise $ Any am CAD to reduce our highest-cost debts and relieve some of the immediate pressure on our household. Donations would help us reduce high-interest obligations and protect money needed for our mortgage, utilities, groceries, transportation and our children's needs.
My wife and I are also making changes ourselves. We are reducing unnecessary expenses, avoiding additional borrowing wherever possible and following a stricter household budget.
Our goal is not to depend on financial assistance permanently. We want to complete our education, become financially stable, protect our family home, build an emergency fund and eventually establish a small business that can provide additional income and long-term security for our family.
